Fresh 48 Sessions at the hospital

Here are 6 things I'll always do during a Fresh 48 session at the hospital.  Maui Memorial Hospital is spectacular for new mamas and are so understanding with visitors!

1. I will communicate with the mom beforehand to understand her preferences and expectations for the session. Maybe she wants just baby photos, maybe she wants the entire family, maybe she prefers just black and white images. Whatever mom wants, I try to deliver!

2. I work efficiently and respectfully, considering the new family's exhaustion, emotional and health state.

As a mom of 3 babies, all delivered via C-section, I understand the pain and exhaustion from giving birth. So I make sure to give you space and time to move, relax, and hold your baby during our session.

3. I keep the session for under 60 minutes. I know how tired or hungry or overwhelmed a family can feel, so I try to capture all my shots as quickly as I can.

4. I capture a variety of shots, including portraits, details, and lifestyle moments. I also give attention to the tiny details, like baby' tiny toes and eyelashes. I'll involve the parents and siblings in the photo shoot, capturing precious early moments together. I will provide guidance and support to the new parents during the session

5. I use the natural light and hospital surroundings to create a warm and intimate atmosphere. I don't bring a lighting set up to fresh 48 sessions, and use a damn good lens to capture all the good shots.

I'll also only edit with a gentle and natural touch, in order to preserve the authenticity of the baby and moments.

6. And as with all newborns and kids, I'll handle the baby with care and gentleness, ensuring their safety and comfort. I'm always mindful of hospital rules and regulations and respectful of the medical and administrative staff.
